New Delhi: Those who are planning to buy JioPhone can now heave a sigh of relief as the phone may include their most favourite 'Whatsapp' in it. Mukesh Ambani backed-Reliance Jio is in talks with Whatsapp to design a less intense alternative version of the messaging app for the JioPhone. While JioPhone has created a lot of commotion in the telecom market and generated a lot of energy among people, not everything was clear about the features of the phone.

Reportedly, both the companies are in initial stages of the conversation to release a toned down version of Whatsapp for JioPhone. Recalling the a healthy relationship of the company with Facebook, it can be said, Reliance Jio and Whatsapp, overcoming all the technical challenges will be able to develop a version that will perform optimally on JioPhone.

Reliance Industries launched the 4G JioPhone in its 40th Annual General Meeting chaired by Mukesh Ambani. Pre-bookings of the phone will start from August 24. While the JioPhone will be available for free, customers need to deposit a refundable amount of Rs 1,500 as security money in the company.

Additionally, JioPhone comes loaded with Jio Apps which supports Youtube and Facebook as well. Reportedly, it did not include Whatsapp earlier as the messaging app does not have a version that could run JioPhone's OS. The handset performs on KaiOS, an operating system based on Firefox OS. 

In India, Whatsapp is used by 200 million of population. Having a toned down version of Whatsapp in JioPhone may give an extra edge to the handset.
