New Delhi: It seems Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s magic will once again work for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the exit poll surveys on Wednesday predicted a huge victory for the party with Congress trailing way behind.

Voting was held in two phases for 230 Assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh.

The C-Voter-NWS exit poll results indicate that the ruling BJP will win around 123-133 seats, Congress 87-97, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) 8 and Others will bag between 2-6.

Times Now-Today’s Chanakya survey predicted handsome victory for the BJP with 161 seats, while Congress 62 and Others 7.

According to the India TV-C Voter survey, BJP is expected to bag 128 seats, Congress 92, whereas Others 10.

In 2008, the BJP had won 143 seats, Congress 71, BSP seven and the other parties together nine seats.

The BJP-ruled state of Madhya Pradesh registered over 70 percent turnout as polling for 230-seat Legislative Assembly ended at 5 pm on Monday amid unprecedented security arrangements.

Over 71 percent of the electorate exercised their right to franchise in elections for the 14th Madhya Pradesh Assembly.

This time 1.46 percent more votes have been polled as compared to the 2008 Assembly elections, when the voting percentage was 69.78.

A total of 2,583 candidates contested the polls for the state`s 230 Assembly seats.
