Rs 1.1 cr cash, 2915 litres liquor seized ahead of Delhi polls

New Delhi: Over Rs 1 crore in cash and 2,915 litres of liquors have been seized till date in the poll-bound national capital by surveillance teams appointed by Delhi Chief Electoral office.
A total 47,859 persons have been booked, against whom preventive action was taken under various section of CrPC and Delhi Police Act while 846 persons have been bound down by the police to maintain calm and peace ahead of the polls.

For violating the Model Code of Conduct Violation, 373 cases have been lodged against various political parties and independent candidates with Aam Aadmi Party topping the list with 104 FIRs registered against the party, followed by BJP (81), Congress (73) and BSP (27), poll authorities said today.

Besides, 5,911 hoardings were removed from public properties till date and 250 FIRs have been lodged in this regard while 3,276 hoardings (defacements) were removed from private properties and a total of 85 FIRs have been filed.

1,594 licensed arms were deposited and 66 unlicensed arms and 94 cartridges were seized by the poll body officials.

Rs 1.1 crore in cash and 2,915 litres of liquors, which includes 758.75 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor and 514 Beer bottles, were seized till yesterday.
